The wisdom gained from plant medicine ceremonies can be life-changing, but it’s the consistent application of these insights in your everyday life that creates meaningful, lasting transformation. To help you integrate your experience and maximize its benefits, we’ve created this comprehensive plant medicine integration guide.

This guide will support you as you navigate the process of bringing the profound lessons from your ceremony into your daily life. Whether it’s emotional healing, spiritual growth, or clarity gained through the experience, integrating these changes takes patience, awareness, and intention.


What To Expect After Psychedelic Experiences

If you have just completed a plant medicine healing journey, you may experience fatigue, introspection, a desire for solitude, and possibly a temporary loss of appetite, (or excitement and energy, which is also common).  This is normal. During this period, it’s important to prioritize self-care and listen to your body’s needs. Occasionally, individuals may encounter stomach discomfort or diarrhea, which typically resolve within 48 hours and are not cause for alarm.

Emotionally, for up to a week, you may experience heightened sensitivity. It’s normal and will gradually return to your normal self. Try to spend more time in solitude post-retreat, and meditate daily.

Plant Medicine Integration Guide: After-Care

Whether you’ve attended a psychedelic or non-psychedelic healing session, what you do immediately after your session is equally important. Transitioning peacefully back to daily life helps you integrate the healing experience. We recommend allowing at least 4-6 hours of quiet time post-session. Please listen to your body for what it needs. Here are some suggestions:

  • Rest plenty: Turn off your phone and clear your schedule if possible. Take time to process your experience. Don’t rush back to distractions. 
  • Diet: Drink plenty of water, and juice to replenish your body.  We recommend continuing the pre-ceremony diet (vegetarian) for a few more days (up to 7 days), or gradually introducing red meat, dairy products, processed foods, caffeine, etc. if you miss them. 
  • Reflect: Take time to journal about your experience, noting any insights or emotions that arose.
  • Allow Space: Try not to schedule an activity immediately after your session. Allow yourself the space to reflect, rest, and just “be”.
  • Gentle Activities: Engage in soothing activities like walking in nature, listening to calming music, or practicing gentle yoga.
